VHES Meeting: November 9, 2006

Education; 10:00am-11:30

A presentation of USP 797 by Scott LaClair from Fitzemeyer & Tocci Associates

Pharmacy systems, utilities & equipment considerations were presented.

Anti-room & buffer room design considerations where also presented.

Glove boxes/hoods positive & negative air should not be different as room air pressure.

Chemo mixing needs negative air pressure & for I.V. drugs positive air pressure needed.

Other alternatives to include isolation glove box/hoods. HEPA filter with alarm required.

An accessible, pre-filter is advisable.

VHES Nov. business Meeting 11:30-13:30

  1. September Annual VHES minutes were approved & accepted.

  2. A separate column will be added to the VHES membership list. (Associate member.) To

    Indicate type of membership and CHFM.

    Dues/ and applications are still needed for 2006 VHES membership.

    Reminder & 2007 dues request reminder is to be sent out to VHES Members.

  3. The NEHES fall conference was reported on to be great information and a good value. It was also reported the NEHES trip to Hartford Conn. provided good information for a Co/Gen plant & steam absorption chiller for heating/cooling.
  4. It was suggested and discussed that vendor sponsorship supporting the VHES website needs to be reviewed & the rules for proper conduct/information needs to be made clear.
  5. The approval of $500 for a Link from NHES to VHES.
  6. There are 40 VHES members, 20 people still owe 2006 dues.
  7. The treasurer report was for the VHES account was $2,438.76 As of Oct. 14. The Next VHES meeting will be held at Gifford Hospital on 1/12/07.

A tour was then given of the VA's Oxygen annunciation & bulk storage project.
